Mind Games

The Mound In The Dark Grove

Attraction.  What is it?  I’m thinking it, I’ve just this moment opened up the thesaurus…it’s a very thick book. The first page I  opened…my daughter left a scrap of paper between the pages…top of the page..underlined.  (Where are my glasses?)  “Attractiveness– enchantment, charm, glamor, magic.”  There you have it!

Once in a while a person or a place comes to your awareness. Beguiling. Bewitching. Is it merely desire? Or is it something else? Maybe it’s a memory of a preordained future working its way backwards, drawing you towards it. Whatever the explanation, your subconscious has locked on to it, and without any  planning on your part, a few years down the road, inexplicably, there you find yourself.

Bryn Celli Ddu or ‘the mound in the dark grove’ is just such a place. Bryn Celli Ddu is a prehistoric site on the Welsh island of Anglesey located near Llanddaniel Fab. It’s old! Neolithic. Not as old as the earth beneath your feet, but as far as ‘man-made’ goes, 5000 years is pretty old. Maybe, I just like really old stuff. mound-1000

The mound began as a henge-a bank and a ditch enclosing a circle of 14 upright stones purportedly aligned to the summer solstice and was used as a place for ritualistic ceremony.

During the Bronze Age the standing stones were damaged or removed by a rival religious group, and the henge was deliberately overbuilt by a large burial mound or communal grave. theburialchamber

The present mound is actually a reconstruction after the original mound was excavated in 1927.southwest-1000

This carved stone outside is a replica of the original which was inside the chamber and now resides in the National Museum of Wales. Someone has left a daffodil as an offering.

Right..let’s have a look inside!

Watch your head. What’s back there?stone-1000

Oh, right. It is said this stone inside the chamber may be the petrified trunk of a tree. Someone has left Brigid’s Cross as an offering, more than likely on Imbolc or St. Brigid’s Day to celebrate spring or to ward off evil. Earlier in the day we had visited the remains of some Iron Age round houses up on Holyhead Mountain…a story for another There’s really no telling what kind of energies we might have absorbed in these ancient spots, or who or what those same energies may later on attract. Law of attraction. I’ve never been one for chasing dangling carrots. More than not, it’s the stick that drives me forward.  Occasionally though, I will see something I like.

The Unfolding of the Divine

Last night I happened to come across a videotaped speech delivered by former US National Security Advisor  Zbigniew Brzezinski in 2012. I had been thinking and writing about how we can disengage from conditioned fear and the emotional wave while staying informed.

We’re spiritual warriors, on many levels, and while we don’t get many ‘you’re winning’ signals from the enemy, we are tuned in and smiling every time another light shines through the lies. It is often synchronicity and reliance on heart connections that sustain us.
